1 Person Arrested in Edinburg Auto Accident on Chapin Street and 24th Avenue

EDINBURG, TX (October 2, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, Officer Juan Hernandez sustained injuries in a disastrous DWI crash on Chapin Street.

The incident happened on Chapin Street and 24th Avenue.

According to the Edinburg Police Department, a Ford F-150 truck struck an Edinburg police officer who was patrolling the area.

Moreover, responders rushed the officer, identified as “Jay” Hernandez, to a hospital with broken ribs and a fractured wrist.

Furthermore, authorities arrested the driver of the Ford for intoxication assault charges.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
