Motorcycle Crash Injures CHP Officer in Escondido
ESCONDIDO, CA (January 23, 2019) – A California Highway Patrol Officer was injured Wednesday night in a motorcycle accident on 15 Freeway. The officer’s identity has not been released.
According to CHP Officer Mark Laltulippe, the accident occurred around 8:30 PM on the 15 Freeway near Via Rancho Parkway exit.
As per reports, the officer was driving southbound when he saw a stalled vehicle on the right shoulder near the ramp. As he drove towards the vehicle, he was struck by a 2005 Cadillac STS sedan driven by a man from Poway.
Escondido Police and the Fire Department responded to the scene. The officer was taken to Pomerado Hospital for further medical evaluation, there has been no update on his medical status. The Cadillac driver was not injured.
Southbound lanes of the freeway were temporarily closed. Drugs and alcohol were not considered to be factors in the incident.
