According to Phoenix police, the incident happened in a neighborhood near 16th Street and Southern Avenue around 7:30 a.m.
Police say the officer was doing traffic control when a distracted driver struck him.
The officer’s injuries are considered minor. The driver remained at the scene. However, there has been no update on their current condition.
