Authorities Arrest Santiago Ortega in National City Crash Causing Injury
National City, CA (August 4, 2021) – On Tuesday, National City Police officer was injured, while 27-year-old Santiago Ortega was arrested in National City Boulevard hit-and-run crash.
The accident took place at about 7:05 p.m. at the 700 block area.
Investigating authorities said the officer was preparing to enter his parked vehicle when a southbound vehicle struck him.
“The vehicle fled from the scene. The officer sustained injuries and was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment,” an officer said said.
Ortega surrendered himself in around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
“The vehicle involved in the collision has since been located and secured as evidence. Mr. Ortega will eventually be booked into County Jail on one count of felony hit and run,” the officer added.
