Injuries Reported in San Ramon Auto Accident on Crow Canyon Road near Shoreline Drive
SAN RAMON, CA (May 12, 2021) – Tuesday morning, a San Ramon police officer suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Crow Canyon Road near Shoreline Drive.
Reports revealed that the over tried to initiate a traffic stop against the suspect just before 8:00 a.m. The initial incident happened on Crow Canyon Road near Shoreline Drive.
However, the suspect drove his vehicle into the officer’s patrol car and escaped onto Crow Canyon Road. Afterward, he drove into Interstate 680.
As the suspect entered the freeway, his vehicle started failing. Eventually, he left the freeway at Sycamore Valley Road and exited the vehicle. Then, the suspect jumped over an overcrossing fence. He started running on the outside of the fence above the freeway.
Afterward, the authorities closed the freeway momentarily in both directions “for (the suspect’s) safety.” Eventually, the officers apprehended him on the west side of the freeway underneath the underpass. Then, an officer with a Taser helped in subduing him.
The police confirmed that the suspect drove with fake license plates and the vehicle has been stolen out of San Francisco.
Meanwhile, the officer who subdued the suspect sustained minor injuries. Responders took the officer to a local hospital for treatment.
On the other hand, authorities arrested the suspect on suspicion of assault against a peace officer. Also, he received charges on felony evading and violating probation.
Furthermore, the suspect had an outstanding warrant out of San Joaquin County and was suspected of a recent burglary.
