Injuries Reported in Houston Auto Accident on Katy Freeway near Eldridge
HOUSTON, TX (November 23, 2023) – Wednesday, a Houston police officer suffered injuries in a crippling DUI crash on Katy Freeway near Eldridge.
The incident happened in the westbound lanes of Katy Freeway near Eldridge.
Reports revealed that an officer was working on a separate crash that involved an 18-wheeler and a Tesla. Then, the patrol car blocked the HOV lane around one to two miles away from that crash. However, a possible drunk driver drove into the back of it.
The impact pushed the car into the main lanes and was struck by two other cars.
Thus, the Houston Fire Department responded and treated both the officer and the suspect.
“The officer, he should be OK. The suspected driver, I’m not sure of his condition, but I believe he is alive. I don’t think he has life-threatening injuries,” said Sgt. Griffiths with HPD.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
