Injuries Reported in Contra Costa County Auto Accident on Highway 24 and Interstate 680
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (August 25, 2024) – Saturday, a CHP officer sustained injuries in an alarming traffic crash on Highway 24 and Interstate 680.
The crash occurred just before noon on eastbound Highway 24 at the Interstate 680 transition.
According to the CHP, an officer was severely injured when another driver collided with the patrol car as the officer was responding to a car spinout. Fortunately, the officer is expected to recover.
Footage from the scene revealed a traffic backup after CHP temporarily closed the eastbound lanes.
The driver involved in the crash was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
