2 Hurt in Eureka Auto Accident on Broadway Street
EUREKA, CA (November 19, 2020) – Wednesday morning, Officer Camaron Hooks suffered injuries in a pursuit crash on Broadway Street.
The incident happened on November 11th when officers responded to a reported assault at a hotel. When they arrived, officers found the involved parties, a man and a woman. Several witnesses reported that the man was assaulting the woman.
They found the man sitting in a black Chevrolet Impala. Then, officers tried to detain him. However, he refused to comply with commands and fled the scene4.
The officers followed the suspect. Unfortunately, the second pursuing Eureka PD vehicle got involved in a crash with another motorist. Thus, the authorities stopped the pursuit.
Medical personnel responded to the crash scene and treated the injured uninvolved motorist and the officer. Then, responders transported both of them to St. Joseph Hospital’s Emergency Room for treatment.
Meanwhile, the authorities managed to detain the assault suspect.
Furthermore, the second motorist received treatment and was released to the emergency room.
On the other hand, the injured officer, Camaron Hooks, suffered moderate to major injuries.
Thus, he was airlifted to a trauma hospital for further treatment.
