GoKart Driver Killed in Fresno County Auto Accident on Mountain View Avenue and Peach Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 25, 2024) – Saturday, a horrific off-road vehicle crash on Mountain View Avenue and Peach Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident happened just before 6:30 a.m. on Mountain View Avenue, west of Peach Avenue. 

Emergency responders arrived to find an adult male, the sole occupant of the recreational vehicle, critically injured in a hit-and-run incident. Deputies from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office were first on the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Preliminary investigations suggest that an unidentified driver, heading westbound in a Toyota Tacoma, struck the GoKart from behind. The driver reportedly stopped briefly but then fled without assisting the injured man.

According to the CHP, the GoKart was not street-legal, lacked lights, and reflectors, and was low to the ground.

The driver of the pickup has yet to be found. Initial evidence suggests that the suspect vehicle is a white 2012-2015 Toyota Tacoma with front-end damage. The investigation continues, and anyone with information about the suspect or the vehicle is urged to contact the Fresno-area CHP office at (559) 262-0400.

It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
