Odessa Man Robert Montes Dies in S Moss Avenue Collision [Ector County, TX]

Ector County, TX (October 10, 2024) –  Robert Montes, 39, of Odessa, was fatally injured in a S Moss Avenue collision Wednesday afternoon.

It was about 3 p.m. on October 9 when the fatal motorcycle crash happened.

Investigators stated that Robert Montes was in a 2007 Harley Davidson Motorcycle traveling south on Moss Avenue.

At the same time, Manuela Rayos Castillo, 69, was driving a 2008 Land Rover LR2 out of a private drive and was attempting to turn north onto Moss.  

DPS officers said Castillo failed to yield the right of way.

 As a result, Montes struck Castillo’s car and he was thrown from his motorcycle on impact. 

Robert Montes was declared dead at the scene while Castillo was transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa with minor injuries. 

The authorities are still investigating this fatal crash and no other information is available.
