Deadly Pedestrian Crash on Mount Vernon Avenue near Belleview Street
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (January 7, 2020) – A man was hit and killed by a car Tuesday night in San Bernardino, police said.
The fatal incident happened just before 6:00 p.m. on Mount Vernon Avenue near Belleview Street.
According to police, the man was crossing the intersection when a Honda Civic, driven by a 23-year-old San Bernardino resident, struck him.
As a result, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities identified him as Octavio Giron, 28, of San Bernardino.
The driver was not injured and did not appear to be impaired or speeding.
Giron may have been intoxicated, the release said, but that was still being investigated.
