Woman Killed and Two Others Hospitalized after Deadly Two-Vehicle Crash on Laurel Road

 
OAKLEY, CA (April 17, 2018) – A T-bone collision on O’Hara Avenue claimed the life of a woman and injured two others, early Tuesday morning.
 
According to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, the collision happened around 5:10 AM on O’Hara Avenue at Laurel Road. The events leading up to the fatal collision are still unknown at this time.
 
Paramedics were on their way to a hospital to take a patient to a hospital for an unrelated case when they saw the victims of the crash in the road. They found a woman lying on the ground covered in blood and called for backup to arrive at the scene.
 
Responding firefighters determined that the woman had sustained an injury that hindered her normal respiratory processes. She was rushed to the Sutter Delta Medical Center and was later transferred to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
 
Oakley police reported that two more people in the crash received injuries. One of them was airlifted to the trauma center at John Muir Medical Center and listed under critical condition, while the third person was transported to Kaiser Permanente in Antioch and released after treatment. There is no update on their current medical condition.
 
Authorities are still unsure what caused the collision, but they are looking at speed, intoxication, and weather conditions as possible factors. They also discovered that one of the vehicles was reported stolen in Wyoming.
 
The victims’ identities were not immediately available, and no other information is available to the public at the time.
