Police Officer Hospitalized after Hit-And-Run Crash on South Maag Avenue in Oakdale
Oakdale, CA (July 30, 2021) – Friday afternoon, a police officer sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash on South Maag Avenue and East J Street.
Subsequently, police arrested 36-year-old Christopher Milchen who allegedly ran over the Oakdale officer and fled the scene.
Reportedly, the crash happened at 12:33 p.m. on July 30, not far from Oakdale Junior High.
The incident started when dispatched Oakdale police officers responded to a call of a person apparently passed out behind the wheel of a car in the parking lot of Save Mart on F Street.
The officer then tried to make contact with the driver through the open door and the suspect awoke and immediately put the car in reverse. The officer was caught in the door jam and dragged backward about 30 feet.
Moreover, the suspect drove to Sierra and Knox Roads where the vehicle became disabled and fled on foot.
EMS took the injured officer to a Modesto-area hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
Police found Milchen after hours of searching at the Fleet Fueling gas station at 1313 South Yosemite Avenue and taken into custody.
