1 Dead in Harris County Bicycle Accident near Airtex Drive and Brundage Drive

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (December 5, 2024) – Wednesday, Nyla Gamboa was arrested after a hit-and-run crash near Airtex Drive.

Reports said that the incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. near Airtex Drive and Brundage Drive.

A male bicyclist was fatally struck by a black SUV that fled the scene, according to the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office. Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Shortly after the incident, the suspect’s vehicle was discovered running and abandoned near Willow Briar Drive and Bayberry Meadows Lane. Surveillance footage reviewed by officials showed the vehicle hitting the victim without any visible brake lights.

Using K-9 units, authorities tracked the suspect’s scent to a cul-de-sac. Additional video evidence revealed the suspect, 22-year-old Gamboa, leaving the area in a different vehicle. She was later arrested at George Bush Intercontinental Airport on charges of failure to stop and render aid resulting in death.

The investigation remains ongoing.
