1 Killed in San Diego Pedestrian Crash on Chollas Parkway
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 5, 2020) – On Friday morning, 48-year-old Norman Jackson died in a hit-and-run accident on Chollas Parkway.
The incident happened at 1:00 a.m. in the 5300 block of Chollas Parkway, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown “racer type” vehicle with a loud muffler traveled south. Moreover, reports confirmed that the driver traveled at a high rate of speed.
Thus, it hit the pedestrian and “carried him for a short distance before he was thrown off,” Heims added.
Subsequently, the SDPD said that the driver briefly stopped. However, the driver then continued after the pause, and fled from the scene.
Due to his injuries, Mr. Jackson died at the crash scene.
Meanwhile, records showed that the suspect vehicle went south on 54th Street.
San Diego police Traffic Division currently handles the crash investigation.
With heavy hearts, we send our sympathies to the family and friends of Norman Jackson.
Pedestrian Accidents in California
As roadways continue to clear and taking walks outside rises in popularity, more pedestrians become vulnerable to traffic accidents.
Pedestrian accidents are incidents in which someone walking or crossing a road is injured by a vehicle striking them.
“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents, but the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
Furthermore, common locations for these pedestrian incidents include shopping center entrances and street corners.
