Two Injured in Deadly Vehicle Crash on US 97
Toppenish, WA (September 20, 2024) – Noemi Salazar Perez was killed in a. US 97 vehicle crash Monday night.
It was about 8 p.m. when the fatal crash happened at the intersection with Branch Road.
Troopers said Noemi Salazar Perez was driving a BMW with Jesus Sanchez Rosales while Berzain Santiz Santiz was driving a southbound 2015 Chrysler 200 with Martin Entzin Gomez on the same freeway.
Perez failed to yield the right of way to Santiz.
Santiz then struck Perez’s BMW, killing Perez.
Santiz then fled the crash scene on foot and was later taken into custody.
Jesus Sanchez Rosales and Martin Entzin Gomez were taken to Yakima Memorial Hospital.
Charges on Santiz’s are still pending.
