62-Year-Old Woman in Fatal Accident on State Route 267 Near Northstar Drive
TRUCKEE, CA (December 20, 2017) – A fatal car crash took place on the 267 Highway just south of Northstar Drive around 12:35 PM, reported the California Highway Patrol. The accident involved a silver 2007 Toyota Tacoma, a black 2017 Honda Civic, and a blue Subaru Outback driven by 62-year-old Noelle Nelson.
On Saturday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol reported a three-car collision in Truckee. The Toyota, going south on the 267 highway, was driving at fast speeds. When traffic slowed, the Toyota was unable to come to a stop and collided into the Honda in front of it.
After the collision the Toyota swerved into the northbound lanes of the freeway and crashed head-first into the Subaru. When authorities arrived, Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries she sustained.
An 18-year-old female passenger of the Toyota was transported to Renown for unreported injuries.
Nelson was on her way home from snowshoeing in the nearby mountains with a friend. She leaves behind her husband, Bob Nelson, and their children.
A GoFundMe page was set up in Nelson’s honor to continue her passion of getting kids active outside. Donations will be used to purchase recreation equipment for the Physical Education Department at the Donner Trail Elementary School, where Nelson was a P.E. teacher.
We send our sincerest sympathies to the family, friends, and loved ones of Mrs. Noelle Nelson. May she Rest In Peace.
