2 Dead in Winkler County Auto Accident on SH 18 and FM 874
WINKLER COUNTY, TX (April 3, 2024) – Sunday afternoon, Noel Rodriguez and another person died in a brutal 2-vehicle crash on SH 18 and FM 874.
The incident happened at 1:07 p.m. at the intersection of SH 18 and FM 874, said the Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday.
According to a preliminary report from the Department of Public Safety (DPS), a tragic crash occurred involving two vehicles and resulted in fatalities. Eddie Hall, aged 47, was driving a 2015 Mack Truck with a trailer, heading westbound on FM 874. Meanwhile, Rodriguez, an 18-year-old Kermit ISD student, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on SH 18, nearing the intersection with FM 874.
However, Hall failed to obey the stop sign and proceeded into the intersection, crossing paths with the Silverado. As a result, the Silverado crashed with the Mack Truck, leading to the loss of life for Rodriguez and one of his passengers, 18-year-old Andrea Burkhalter, also a student of Kermit ISD.
Following the incident, Hall sustained minor injuries and was transported to Winkler County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Kermit ISD addressed the tragic event via their Facebook page.
As the investigation into the crash is ongoing, DPS has not released any further information at this time.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
