21-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Vehicle near Highway 99
ROSEVILLE, CA (July 22, 2018) – A man was killed Sunday afternoon after his motorcycle was struck by a drunk driver on West Riego Road, near Highway 99.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at 4:40 PM. A 2003 GMC was heading east on W Riego when it entered the path of a westbound motorcycle. The head-on collision between the two motorists fatally injured the motorcyclist, 21-year-old Noe Ayala of Roseville.
An initial investigation determined that the GMC driver, identified as 33-year-old Zachary Becker of Rio Linda, was drunk at the time of the collision. It was also noted that he had three passengers, including a 4-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy. Becker was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, vehicular manslaughter, and two counts of child endangerment. He was booked into the Sutter County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
