Noah Cavazos of Garland Killed in FM 1532 Hit-and-Run Collision [Commerce, TX]

Commerce Traffic Accident Kills Teen

Commerce, TX (June 11, 2023) – On Monday, Noah Cavazos, 17, of Garland, sustained fatal injuries following an FM 1532 hit-and-run collision.

According to the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, they received a report past 3:30 a.m. and responded to the 1800 block area where they located the victim. Apparently, it is close to where Cavazos was staying at.

The victim’s grandmother said he was staying with a friend near Pecan Gap in Delta County for a graduation celebration last weekend. Cavazos’ older sister Karina Cortez stated that her brother initially planned to come home Sunday but later asked his family to stay another night.

Investigating officers said vehicle parts located at the scene suggest the car involved in the accident is a brown Nissan Altima between the years 2001 and 2005. They say the car will likely have fresh damage to the driver’s side, front bumper, and/or the driver’s side front fender area.

Moreover, Cavazos’ family hopes the driver responsible for the accident will come forward so they can have closure.

In the meantime, the authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Delta County Sheriff’s Office at 903-395-2146.

The family has created an online campaign to help the bereaved with funeral expenses.

Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Noah Cavazos. Our thoughts are with you during this painful time.
