1 Dead in Fremont Pedestrian Accident on Dunsmuir Common and Colleen Terrace
FREMONT, CA (October 31, 2024) – Monday morning, 3-year-old Nivisha Yathaluru died in a brutal pedestrian crash on Dunsmuir Common.
The incident occurred at around 11:45 in Dunsmuir Common and Colleen Terrace.
First responders administered life-saving measures to the child, but they succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
According to police, the investigation found that a driver was pulling out of a parking space when the child “unexpectedly moved in front of the vehicle,” resulting in the front left side of the car striking the child.
The driver remained on-site and cooperated with authorities. Drugs and alcohol were not considered factors in the incident.
“As we mourn this tragic incident with our community, please respect the family’s privacy during this incredibly difficult time,” FPD said.
The victim was identified as 3-year-old Nivisha Yathaluru of Fremont.
This marks the 11th fatal crash in Fremont this year, with six occurring on city streets, three on state routes, and two on private property.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
