Gabriela Verdin, Brooke Pulido, and 7 Others Killed in Fresno County Accident on Highway 33
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (January 3, 2021) – Friday night, seven kids and two adults died in a fiery head-on crash on Highway 33.
The incident occurred at around 8:00 p.m. According to reports, a 28-year-old man from Avenal drove south on Highway 33, south of Sutter Avenue in a 2013 Dodge.
Meanwhile, in 2007 Ford traveled north with eight occupants.
The authorities confirmed that the Dodge driver let his vehicle to drive into the dirt on the side of the road. Then, it overcorrected and went into the southbound lane.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office later identified the Dodge driver as Daniel Luna.
As a result, the vehicles crashed head-on on the highway west of Avenal. Afterward. the Ford caught fire and stopped on the highway. Meanwhile, the Dodge stopped as it straddled both lanes.
Upon the emergency crew’s arrival, they found the Ford engulfed with flames. Reports confirmed that the car had five restraints for the eight occupants.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
According to spokesperson Tony Botti, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office worked diligently to identify all of the victims. Moreover, they clarified that the Ford driver was an adult. Also, all Ford passengers were children.
“It looks like they’re two related families,” he added. “The ages are between 6 and 15 years old (for the) seven children.”
Later reports revealed the deceased as Gabriela Verdin, Brooke Pulido, Giada Pulido, Mia Pulido, Jonah Pulido, Daniella Ayala, Anthony Ayala, and Camila Ayala.
