One Dead in San Rafael Car Accident
SAN RAFAEL, CA (March 2, 2019) – Nicole Michelle Smith, 33, of Benicia was killed in a car accident Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The fatal crash happened around 4:43 p.m. on northbound Highway 101, just north of 580 Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a blue 4-door sedan had crashed. In addition, the accident caused major front-end damage on the vehicle.
San Rafael firefighters responded to the scene and found the vehicle blocking the slow lane. Soon after, one person was located with fatal injuries. A coroner’s personnel was notified to conduct a full report.
A SigAlert was issued in the area, blocking two freeways lanes of Highway 101. In the meantime, officers documented the collision scene and conducted their investigation. All lanes were reopened a little after 6:00 p.m.
