Driver Dies after Car Crashes into Building at Alhambra Boulevard and X Street
SACRAMENTO, CA (January 28, 2019) – A motorist was killed after crashing her car head-on into the side of a building early Monday in Sacramento.
The fatal crash happened just before 2:00 a.m. at Alhambra Boulevard and X Street.
Preliminary indications show a female driver of an unknown vehicle did not stop at the end of X street, ran through the stop sign and straight into the building on the opposite side of Alhambra Boulevard.
The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was later identified as a 25-year-old Nichole Hallowood.
Her female passenger was taken to UC Davis Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The building, which houses programs for St. Hope, sustained minor structural damage and a few broken windows. The building is occupied by the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce and Sacramento Urban League.
Alhambra Boulevard was expected to remain closed between W Street and Broadway until around 7:00 a.m.
Investigators said they would have to wait on toxicology reports to know if drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Nichole Hallowood during this time of grief.
