Camarillo Man Dies in Late Evening Motorcycle Crash at Naval Air and Hueneme Roads
OXNARD, CA (November 18, 2018) – A motorcyclist was killed when he collided with a vehicle late Sunday evening just North of Naval Base Ventura County Point Mugu.
The fatal crash happened around 11:55 near the intersection of Naval Air Road and Hueneme Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 30-year-old Nicholas Shelton of Camarillo was riding his motorcycle westbound on Hueneme Road when he collided with an unknown vehicle, driven by a 47-year-old Oxnard man, that had been traveling southbound onto Naval Air Road.
Shelton was ejected from his bike and landed in the intersection due to the impact. The other vehicle’s driver reportedly pulled his vehicle over to the right side of Naval Air Road.
Oxnard fire and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene where Shelton was pronounced dead.
CHP officials said there were no witnesses to the collision although a passing motorist contacted 911 to report the incident around 12:05 a.m.
The collision remains under investigation by the Ventura-area CHP.
