VISTA, CA (July 3, 2023) – Saturday night, Nicholas Gordon was arrested after a brutal vehicle crash on State Route 78 near Melrose Drive.

The incident occurred just before 9:30 p.m., west on State Route 78 near Melrose Drive in Vista.

According to reports, a man driving a Toyota Corolla drove west on State Route 78. Then, the Toyota crashed with the Kia Spectra in front of it. The impact sent both cars to the wall on the right shoulder. Then, the Kia overturned.

As a result of the crash, the Kia’s driver, an Oceanside woman, succumbed to injuries before she could be transported to the hospital. Her identity remained undisclosed.

Meanwhile, the driver and his 18-year-old passenger were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers confirmed that alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the crash.

Then, authorities arrested 22-year-old Gordon of Vista on felony charges on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Furthermore, the authorities urged anyone who witnessed the crash to call the CHP at (760) 643-3400.
