NEWMAN, CA – One Killed in Rollover Collision on 5 Freeway

Pickup Truck Overturns on 5 Freeway in Newman Leaving One Dead

 
NEWMAN, CA (April 11, 2019) – One person was killed following a rollover collision on 5 Freeway Thursday morning, near Sullivan Road.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:40 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the highway. Dispatchers arrived at Sullivan Road off-ramp soon after.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a white pickup truck was heading northbound when for unknown reasons, it went about 50 feet off the roadway and overturned down an embankment, where it landed on its side.
 
A coroner was dispatched to the scene and confirmed one fatality as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
 
At this time, California Highway Patrol officials are in the process of investigating the incident and are looking for possible other motorist who potentially initiated the crash.
