Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Highway 84 in Newark
NEWARK, CA (December 4, 2018) – A man was killed in a pedestrian crash Tuesday night on Highway 84 in Newark, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash happened around 6:50 p.m. along the westbound lanes of the highway at Newark Boulevard off-ramp.
According to an initial log, the man was found lying on the right shoulder and responding officers did not see any vehicle in the area.
Emergency crews attempted life-saving aid to the victim, but unsuccessful. A coroner was immediately called and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
A maroon Chevrolet Impala reportedly stopped on the right shoulder, unknown if involved in the incident.
