Albert J Silva Arrested after Fatal DUI Accident near Harmony Ridge Road
NEVADA CITY, CA (March 12, 2018) – A 2-year-old boy died in a DUI crash on Highway 20 near Harmony Ridge Road, on Monday night around 9 PM.
A 2007 Ford Focus, driven by 38-year-old Albert J Silva, was traveling west approaching Harmony Ridge Road when it lost control. The vehicle overturned multiple times, throwing the boy out of the car. The 2-year-old was sitting passenger in the car, but was not secured in a proper car seat.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and transported the boy to the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver suffered serious injuries and hospitalized for treatment.
According to California Highway Patrol’s statement, Silva was under the influence of alcohol when the accident happened. The man was arrested for suspected DUI and is still in police custody at this time.
The highway was shut down for an hour for investigation. No other information has been released to the public.
