Neri Chalo Dead in Los Angeles Crash on Sepulveda Boulevard
LOS ANGELES, CA (November 6, 2019) – A 22-year-old man died in a hit-and-run crash on Sepulveda Boulevard on November 3.
The detectives believed that street racing is the cause of the crash that 22-year-old Neri Ramirez Chalo. The suspect is still at large.
A video showed that Neri Ramirez Chalo went out of his car on Sepulveda Boulevard in Sherman Oaks. As he ran across the street, a vehicle hit him and escaped the scene. After that, 35 other vehicles passed by and didn’t stop to help. Some slowed down, drove around the body and then kept driving.
The paramedics pronounced Neri Ramirez Chalo dead at the scene.
“We can always chalk it up a little bit to maybe some people didn’t see or whatever else. But you know, a lot of people just didn’t want to stop. It’s a bad thing. We need more kindness and compassion,” Jay James who lives nearby said.
The LAPD revealed that Roberto Ocampo drove the involved vehicle. Ocampo is still at large. The police also said that he drove a 2008 white Infiniti G37. Authorities believed that Roberto Ocampo is a member of a car club that engages in street racing.
The tipster who will end with an arrest and successful prosecution of Ocampo will have a $50,000 reward.
