Nazaria Rivera Garcia Identified in Fatal DUI Crash in King City, Kyle Griffith Arrested
KING CITY, CA (November 5, 2019) — A woman, identified as Nazaria Rivera Garcia, died in a DUI crash on Highway 198 Sunday night.
The incident occurred east of Pine Valley Road at about 7:38 p.m. according to the California Highway Patrol.
39-year-old Kyle Griffith of Simi Valley was driving a Toyota truck westbound on the highway. He then tried to pass another vehicle illegally and crossed the double yellow line. That’s when Griffith’s Toyota hit a Nissan truck head-on.
The Toyota overturned and caught fire while in the north shoulder. Griffith and his passenger got out before the fire spread to about 500 feet.
Emergency personnel airlifted Griffith to the hospital. His injuries were minor.
Meanwhile, the 42-year-old King City man driving the Nissan was ejected from the vehicle. He sustained major injuries and was airlifted to the hospital. However, his passenger, the 35-year-old Nazaria Rivera Garcia, died at the scene.
The CHP arrested Griffith on DUI charges. The investigation of the crash is ongoing.
