Toddler Struck and Killed by Commercial Truck near Heacock Street
MORENO VALLEY, CA (September 12, 2018) – A toddler was killed Wednesday morning following a tragic pedestrian accident on Fir Avenue. The victim was later identified as 2-year-old Nazarey Flores Arizmendi.
According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the incident took place at about 10:20 AM. For unknown reasons, the child was struck by a commercial truck in the 24000 block of Fir Avenue, near Heacock Street.
Officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department and Moreno Valley Fire Department personnel responded within minutes to render aid to the young victim. Unfortunately, the toddler succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A GoFundMe page was set up to help the child’s family with funeral expenses.
The driver of the truck stayed and cooperated with investigators, but he was not arrested. An investigation is ongoing to determine the events that led to the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
