PENN VALLEY, CA (September 9, 2021) – Monday, Nathaniel Winegar suffered injuries in a truck crash on Highway 20 near Penn Valley.
 
According to reports, the incident happened on Highway 20, going up the steep grade.
 
CHP Officer Mike Steele said that the incident involved 32-year-old Freddi Gonzalez of Sacramento who drove a cement truck. Also, it involved 28-year-old Nathaniel Winegar of Smartsville.
 
“Mr. Gonzalez was driving at a very slow rate of speed. Mr. Winegar was driving at a high rate of speed estimated between 70 and 80 mph. Then he veered right into the concrete truck and rear-ended it,” said Officer Steele.
 
Furthermore, the crash left Gonzales with no injuries. However, responders took Winegar to a hospital due to very serious injuries.
 
Also, the authorities clarified that drugs and alcohol didn’t play a role in the crash.
