Hit-and-Run Crash Claims Life of Lynnwood Man on Highway 99
Lynnwood, WA (November 1, 2024) On Wednesday evening, 29-year-old Nathan Coates of Lynnwood was killed, while a 28-year-old man from Lynden was hurt in a horrific crash on Highway 99.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the fatal hit-and-run crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. on Highway 99 near 164th Street SW.
Reports ay that Coates lost his life, and the Lynden man suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 99
Officials say that a driver in a Chevy Trailblazer traveling south in the right lane struck the pedestrians and then fled the scene. The Coates man died at the scene, while the Lynden man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.
Authorities identified the Coates on Thursday afternoon. No details have been released about the driver of the Trailblazer.
Southbound lanes of Highway 99 remained closed for hours, reopening around midnight.
