Natalia Zelenko Dead, Andrey Zelenko and John Shoaf Injured in Boat Crash
CAMAS, WA (September 2, 2018) – On Sunday evening, a woman was killed and two others were injured in a head-on boat collision under the Camas Slough Bridge. The deceased victim was later identified as 41-year-old Natalia Zelenko of Gladstone.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at around 7:35 PM. Events leading up to the fatal collision are unclear at this time.
Zelenko was pronounced dead at the scene while her husband, 39-year-old Andrey Zelenko, was rushed to the PeaceHealth SW Medical Center in critical condition. He was driving the boat at the time of the crash.
The driver of the second boat, 36-year-old John Shoaf of Camas, sustained minor injuries and was also transported to PeaceHealth. There is no update on either man’s medical condition.
The investigation is still ongoing, but police stated that they don’t believe either of the drivers was impaired at the time of the crash. There has been no decision made regarding any potential criminal charges, and no additional information has been released to the public at this time.
