Woman Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash near Vent Pipe Area
PISMO BEACH, CA (April 19, 2019) – Authorities identified 44-year-old Narcissa Lichtman of San Jose as the woman killed in a five-vehicle crash at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area.
According to the California State Parks, the incident happened near the Vent Pipe area, at about 7:30 PM. Five recreational off-road vehicles reportedly followed each other at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. Due to unknown circumstances, the first vehicle went over a 25 to 30-foot dune, crashed, and rolled over.
The four vehicles behind the wrecked vehicle also crashed, but not with each other.
Emergency responders transported Lichtman to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, where she later died. Meanwhile, the driver of the first vehicle and an 11-year-old girl required hospitalization for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
