Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Highway 29 in Napa
NAPA, CA (April 13, 2019) – A 25-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian crash Monday evening in Napa, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened just before 9:00 p.m. along the northbound lanes of Highway 29. Dispatchers arrived near the Napa Premium Outlets shopping center, just south of 1st Street soon after.
Authorities said the male pedestrian was walking on the shoulder of the northbound lanes when he was struck by a 2001 GMC. The vehicle was allegedly driven by a 51-year-old Concord man.
The unidentified victim suffered fatal injuries following the collision. He was pronounced dead by medics on scene.
Furthermore, reports also indicate the driver attempted to veer out of the victim’s way, but was unable to do so in time. He consequently sustained minor injuries.
A SigAlert was issued in the area, blocking northbound Highway 29 at 1st Street while crews worked to clean the scene. An investigation is currently ongoing to determine further details.
