68-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by SUV on Vermont Avenue in Harbor City
HARBOR CITY, CA (December 9, 2019) – A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a major street in Harbor City on Monday evening.
The fatal incident happened around 6:34 p.m. in the 25700 block of Vermont Avenue, just north of Pacific Highway.
Los Angeles city firefighters and police responded to the crash site. Upon their arrival, they located the man lying in the roadway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities later identified the pedestrian as Nai Wen Fan, 68, of Harbor City.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim had been crossing Vermont Avenue near Highway 1 when a silver Hyundai 4Runner struck him.
The SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol have played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
