Multiple Injured after Bus Crashes into Building near Scott Street
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (September 10, 2018) – At least four people were injured early Monday morning following a bus crash on Lombard Street.
According to San Francisco Police officials, the incident took place at about 5:44 AM near Scott Street. A Muni bus was heading east on Lombard when it veered over the center divider, slammed into a tree, and then plowed into a building.
The 66-year-old bus driver sustained life-threatening injuries, and was rushed to the San Francisco General Hospital. A passenger was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while others received treatment at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Also, a city inspector was called to evaluate the structural damage to the building. Authorities did not release additional information about the incident to the public.
