37-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies in Collision on Highway 1 Near Garrapata State Park
Monterey County, CA (August 5, 2020)– A Pacific Grove man in motorcycle died in collision on Highway 1 near Garrapata State Park on Monday.
The California Highway Patrol said that the collision happened on August 3 on Highway 1 at around 2 p.m.
According to CHP, a Honda was parked on the west side of the road just north of Garrapata Creek Bridge. The driver of the Honda was a woman from Riverside who was about to make a U-turn.
Moreover, the two motorcyclists, the Pacific Grove man, and another 61-year-old Monterey man, were heading in the same direction.
The woman did not see the oncoming motorcycles and continued to make the U-turn. As a result, the motorcyclists weren’t able to avoid the Honda.
One of the motorcyclists, the 37-year-old man from Pacific Grov,e died due to the extent of the crash. His name has not been released to the public.
Meanwhile, the motorcyclist from Monterey sustained minor injuries.
The investigators believed that neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the fatal collision.
