According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the traffic crash happened at about 8:30 a.m. on Highway 290.

Reports say that a chain-reaction crash occurred on Highway 290, after a dog wandered into the roadway.

The incident, confirmed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), involved a passenger vehicle and four 18-wheelers near Red Tip Lane, between Brenham and Burton.

Officials say that the passenger vehicle, traveling east, stopped for the dog, leading to a collision with multiple 18-wheelers.

One of the trucks overturned, spilling its load of rocks and leaking oil and diesel.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but three people sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

Authorities temporarily shut down a section of Highway 290 for cleanup and investigation.
