Toyota Driver Fatally Struck in Bellingham
Bellingham, WA (November 03, 2021) – Yesterday, a 52-year-old female driver from Mount Vernon lost her life in an Interstate 5 collision.
Officers responded to the crash scene at about 10:50 p.m. north of State Street and Ohio Street.
Officers said that the Mount Vernon woman driving a 2001 Toyota Sienna was southbound on the freeway when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a concrete Jersey barrier on the left shoulder.
Then, a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt swerved to avoid debris in the right lane but also hit a jersey barrier on the left shoulder.
Both of the vehicles rested facing northbound on the left shoulder.
The Toyota driver got out of her vehicle.
Unfortunately, she was hit by two southbound vehicles, a 1994 Ford Taurus and a 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA. The two vehicles rested on the right shoulder.
Officers pronounced the Mount Vernon woman deceased at the scene.
The authorities said they are still investigating the crash and do not consider DUI in this accident.
