1 Person Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash That Shut Down 605 Freeway in Baldwin Park
BALDWIN PARK, CA (February 10, 2019) – A person was killed in a three-vehicle collision that shut down the 605 Freeway in the Baldwin Park area Monday morning. Officials said a Jeep, a sedan, and an unidentified third vehicle were involved in the incident.
The jeep crashed head-on into a sedan in the southbound lanes. It was reported that the Jeep went over the barrier. Video footages show officers responding to the scene while the Jeep was on its side. They found a third vehicle on the northbound side of the freeway, which also appeared to have been involved in the crash and was facing the surface streets. A heavily damaged car was also seen off the 605 Freeway south of Cloverleaf Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a motorist involved in the crash was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The collision caused a miles-long backup in all lanes just south of the 10 Freeway. The CHP issued a SigAlert around 5:30 a.m., which got lifted an hour later. The northbound lanes were reopened a few minutes before 6 a.m.
Officials are still investigating the multi-vehicle collision.
Our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
