Motorcycle and SUV Collide on 80 Freeway in Albany, Major Injuries Sustained
ALBANY, CA (May 22, 2019) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured following a collision with a car Wednesday afternoon in Albany.
The collision happened around 3:30 p.m. on eastbound 80 Freeway at Buchanan Street exit.
According to an initial dispatch, a dark-colored SUV and a motorcycle collided for unknown reasons. Two coast guard officers at the scene reported that the rider complained of chest pain and appears to have a compound fracture to the leg.
Firefighters along with paramedics arrived soon after, and took the rider to a hospital with major injuries.
The first lane of the freeway was shut down for about 30 minutes while evidence from the scene was collected and photographed.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash and more information will be provided when accessible.
