Richard Wilson Dead, 1 Injured in Oakland Motorcycle Crash
OAKLAND, CA (May 10, 2019) – A motorcyclist died Wednesday night after he was hit by a pickup truck in West Oakland, police said.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s bureau identified the motorcyclist Thursday afternoon as Richard Wilson, 36, of Oakland.
The collision happened at about 8:28 p.m. at the intersection of 12th and Willow streets. Police said that Wilson was riding a Honda motorcycle, which was struck by a Dodge pickup truck.
Wilson was rushed to a hospital, where he later died.
The truck driver was found inside his vehicle and was taken to a hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said. His identity, an Oakland resident believed to be in his 50s, was not released.
The investigation is continuing. However, police said it appears alcohol may have been a factor in the collision. Anyone with information can contact the Oakland police traffic investigation unit at 510-777-8570.
Our deepest thoughts and regrets are with the family and friends of Richard Wilson.
