Early Morning Crash with Motorcycle on 80 Freeway in Santa Ana Kills Rider
SANTA ANA, CA (July 1, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed following a multi-vehicle crash early Monday morning on 80 Freeway.
Authorities responded to the accident around 4:50 a.m., along the westbound lanes of 80 Freeway near the Capital City Freeway.
Witnesses told officers that a motorcycle was speeding and weaving through traffic before eventually sideswiping a car. The impact consequently triggered a chain-reaction crash involving three to four more vehicles.
According to officers, the rider suffered fatal injuries before he was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the impact. However, their identity has not been given.
Four westbound lanes of the 80 Freeway were also shut down for the investigation. The lanes were later reopened around 8:00 a.m., though motorists were advised to expect some residual traffic delays.
