Rider Dies after Crash with Big Rig on 15 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (February 10, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed in a fiery crash late Monday evening in Rancho Cucamonga.
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on southbound 15 Freeway, just north of Fourth Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcycle and a big rig collided for unknown reasons. The impact caused the big rig to hit the center median and burst into flames.
The motorcycle had become trapped, and was possibly dragged underneath the big rig during the crash.
The rider, whose identity has not yet been released, died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the big rig driver was able to get out of the cab and appeared to be unharmed.
Crews closed a portion of the southbound 15 Freeway while they worked on the scene.
CHP officials are still investigating the crash to determine the cause and factors involved.
