Rider Dies after Crashing into Car on Highway 9 in Saratoga
SARATOGA, CA (November 15, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Friday afternoon on Highway 9 outside Saratoga, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 5:00 p.m. near Heather Heights Road.
According to the CHP, the motorcyclist was coming around a turn, headed south on Highway 9 toward Santa Cruz. He apparently crossed the double yellow line into the path of an oncoming car, possibly a Honda Accord.
The impact sent the motorcycle down on the road and the rider ended up underneath the car. Arriving units pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
The victim was only described as a male adult. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office did not release his name pending family notification.
No one in the car was injured in the crash, CHP officials said.
The CHP issued a traffic alert in the area, shutting down both directions of the highway.
Investigation of this fatal crash is ongoing.
