Deadly Motorcycle Crash on Highway 13 in Oakland
OAKLAND, CA (May 28, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed following a traffic collision late Tuesday afternoon on Highway 13 in Oakland.
The collision happened around 5:25 p.m., just North of Broadway Terrace.
According to an initial report, the rider appears to have applied brakes in heavy traffic, possibly lifting the rear end of the motorcycle and subsequently ejecting the rider.
The rider was found lying on the ground near the center divider. Despite emergency life-saving measures, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office did not release the victim’s identity pending next of kin notification.
CHP officers issued a SigAlert at 5:44 p.m., closing the connector from eastbound Highway 24 to southbound Highway 13 for a time. All lanes reopened just before 7:20 p.m.
The incident still currently remains under investigation.
