Cargo Truck Hits Motorcycle on Highway 1 in Moss Landing Killing the Rider
MOSS LANDING, CA (January 12, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic collision Sunday afternoon in the unincorporated Monterey County community of Moss Landing.
The collision happened around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 1 and Moss Landing Road.
A Harley-Davidson motorcycle pulled off to the side of the southbound Highway 1 and attempted to make a U-turn to travel northbound, CHP officials said.
Once the motorcycle accelerated, a large cargo truck crashed into it ejecting the rider from the bike.
Paramedics rushed the rider to Natividad Medical Center, where the victim succumbed to his injuries. Authorities only identified him as a 28-year-old San Jose man.
It was unclear whether anyone in the box truck was injured.
CHP officials said no arrests have been made and so far alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Further investigation is underway.
